What do you love about what you do at New Hope?
I love the opportunity to come alongside individuals and couples who are discouraged and hurting and to encourage them in a way that brings hope, healing and a reliance on God’s goodness, wisdom, and power to restore their lives and relationships.
What year did you join the staff?
I joined the staff as the associate pastor in September of 2010 and served in that role until I transitioned into the role of Care Pastor in October or 2017.
How did you come to know Jesus?
I was raised in a Christian family and brought up in a church that valued and taught the Bible, so I knew about Jesus Christ as the Savior of the world from an early age. While in high school I realized that I needed to own the faith that my parents taught me for myself, and I asked Jesus Christ to be my Savior, forgive my sins, and grant me the gift of eternal life, as He promised.
What is your favorite Bible verse?
I have been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me. And the life I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me. Galatians 2:20
What was one of your most defining moments in life?
Aside from coming to know Jesus Christ as my Savior, the most defining moment was on December 18, 1970, when I married my wife Jeanne and we began life’s journey together at age 19.
A second defining moment would be when I became a Michigan State Trooper in 1974.
If you were guaranteed to be successful in another profession, what would you do
I would like to be a surgeon, so that I could bring healing to those who are hurting.
