Katie’s Story
Katie Scott joined the Back2Back staff team in Haiti in 2019, following a chain of “coincidences” that only God could have orchestrated. Having previously lived in northeastern Haiti for 2 years, she developed a passion for serving the country and its people. Her position with Back2Back Haiti as Finance Controller combines her love of numbers and her heart for working with children. She enjoyed working alongside the team of Haitian national staff to serve orphaned and vulnerable children and families in the capital of Port-au-Prince.
Due to ongoing gang violence in Haiti, her role evolved into a remote position in late 2021. While in the US, she continues to support the Haiti staff team, overseeing finances and helping to fill other administrative roles. Katie recently accepted an offer to join the small Back2Back staff team in the Dominican Republic, helping to oversee similar financial and administrative duties.
In 2024, Katie hopes to relocate to Santiago, Dominican Republic, joining the DR staff team serving
children and their families in the local community. She will split her time and continue to work remotely with the Haiti staff team as well. With Haiti and the Dominican Republic sharing two sides of the same Caribbean island, it is her hope that the close proximity will lend itself to a few in-person visits with some of the Haitian staff too!
