Each year, over 9,000 new students come to MSU for the first time. For many of these students, it is their first time being out of their parents house and having the increased responsibility and freedom that life on a college campus brings. Many of these students don’t know what their college experience will look like, who they will be friends with, or who they are.

Each year, the GreenHouse tries to connect with as many of these incoming students as we can and introduce them to Jesus. Some students are looking for a church; others have no interest; but the majority aren’t even thinking about finding a college ministry.

This year in partnership with Stepping Stones Foundation, we are starting a new initiative to try and connect with more of those students who are not coming to college already hungry for Jesus. We are calling them Spartan Starter Kits. Over the next few weeks, we will have boxes in the atrium for people to pick up. In each box is a list of supplies that a college student needs, like pens, band-aids, laundry detergent, and a plant to liven up their dorm room, as well as some materials to help them get connected with GreenHouse. We have 150 boxes in the atrium, and we are planning to individually connect with incoming students using the boxes as a springboard.

We are very excited to connect with these students and think that the Spartan Starter Kits will be a great introduction to how generous and welcoming the New Hope family is.

We would love for you to partner with us as we continue to share the Gospel with students on Michigan State’s campus!

• Tide Pods
• Chapstick
• Cough drops
• Nail clippers
• Tweezers
• Band-aids
• Small journal
• Flip flops/shower shoes
• Snacks
• Plus any other small things you think a college student might like or need!

For each kit, New Hope will supply a New Testament book and Rich Bruce’s “How Did We Get Here” pamphlet.
