I thank my God in all my remembrance of you… Philippians 1:3
During these challenging times, I truly thank God for you and our entire church family, and I continue to pray that all remains well in your household.
Earlier this week I met with our Elders and we collectively made the difficult decision to place a temporary hold on New Hope’s “in-person” services. This decision was made due to the current surge of confirmed COVID-19 cases in the mid-Michigan area, presently at more than 11% of those tested and increasing weekly.
Beginning this Sunday, November 22 we will temporarily return to “virtual” church services only. A “Livestream” of the service will be broadcast at 9:00 & 11:00 a.m. on YouTube and the New Hope Facebook page. You will also be able to view the service anytime thereafter as well. There will be no “in-person” services during the next 3 weeks. Furthermore, all other “in-person” meetings at the church including those scheduled at our old building, 1340 Haslett Rd. in Haslett, are suspended.
Please know this decision was not easy and was reached only after earnest prayer for wisdom and extensive discussion regarding all the ramifications. Our primary concern is for health and safety of all who attend given the highly infectious nature of this virus. And while it’s our strong desire to come together for “in-person” worship, our present circumstances make “virtual” worship a better choice at this time. Meanwhile we can trust God to unite us by the power of His Holy Spirit. God’s name can and will be glorified whatever way we “come together” to worship.
In the interim, the joint Leadership Team will continue to monitor the situation and determine the best time to resume “in-person” services. We will certainly keep you informed.
This is a difficult time in so many ways. We find ourselves in “un-charted waters” attempting to navigate our way through situations we’ve never known; but rest assured, New Hope Leadership and Staff will continue to adapt ministry efforts by leveraging technology and a variety of communication tools to connect and care for you, our church family and those in our community.
During this time of uncertainty, I ask you to trust God and pray. Pray along with our Leadership and Staff for God to show us the way forward, to overcome this virus, to heal our nation, and to show His favor upon us as we seek to advance the Gospel in new and creative ways. We should never forget, God’s in control; moreover, we can trust Him to answer our prayers according to His good purposes. He is faithful.
Finally, if you need to contact the church, please call (517) 339-9000. Although the office will be closed, calls are being forwarded. Please leave a message and we’ll get back with you.

COVID-19 RESPONSE @ NH
I’m certain you’re aware of the rapidly rising number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in the mid-Michigan area. After much consideration and extensive discussion with New Hope’s Leadership Team, we have decided to make a pro-active decision and temporarily limit all in-person meetings of NH supporting ministries. There has been no known direct COVID-19 exposure at the church; however, we believe taking this action now is in the best interest of our church family, area schools, hospitals, and surrounding community.
For these reasons and until further notice – all internal and external NH supporting ministries ‘in-person’ meetings will be limited to 10 people or less, socially distanced and mask required. This includes Children’s, Youth (Middle School & High School), Greenhouse (College & Young Professionals), Men’s Ministry, and Women’s Ministry. The Ministry Directors will contact participants to share more specific plans. Where possible, ministries may continue with modified forms of virtual meetings.
As to Sunday morning worship services, our ‘in-person’ and ‘virtual’ options will continue as currently scheduled at 9:00am & 11:00am. However, for all those who choose the ‘in-person’ option – please know that Sunday morning services at New Hope will remain a ‘mask-required’ environment, while we additionally practice all appropriate Covid-19 protocols. Also note, children are welcome to attend with their family, but the nursery and classrooms will be closed.
Please pray along with our Leadership Team for wisdom as we continue to navigate this very challenging time. I also encourage you to pray for the health-care workers in our community, many of whom are physically and mentally exhausted and need God’s strength. And of course, pray for those who are struggling financially or emotionally, physically sick or at greater risk. Should you need to contact the church, please call (517) 339-9000. The office will remain open 9:00am-4:30pm Monday-Thursday.
As we move forward, always remember our God is completely in control of all things. And although it may not always feel like it – He is working all things together for our good!
“God causes all things to work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose.” – Romans 8:28
Thank you for your prayers, patience, and encouragement.
These are the four core values that shape our “biblical community”.
The following are our guiding principles for how we respond to Covid restrictions and updates:
* To honor God & His Word (Ps 138:2, 1 Tim 1:17)
* To love our neighbors as ourselves (Jn 13:34, Gal 5:14)
* To respect one another (Rom 12:10, 1 Peter 2:17)
* To stay humble & adjust our plans as needed (Prov 16:9, Micah 6:8)
